Connecting to home Wi-Fi
- Open the settings menu.
- Select Wi-Fi from the option on the left.
- Make sure that Wi-Fi is turned on and select your home Wi-Fi network from the list of networks.
- Enter your home Wi-Fi password.
Once you are connected a blue check mark will be displayed next to your home Wi-Fi network.
Setting up Apple Pencil
- Unbox your Apple Pencil.
- Magnetically connect your Pencil to the side of the iPad that has two buttons. If your iPad is in a keyboard case, this will be the ‘top’ of the iPad.
- The Pencil should automatically sync with the iPad and show the setup screen. Your Pencil may need to charge before it’s first use.
Your Apple Pencil can be stored, synced, and charged by magnetically connecting it to your iPad.
Installing Apps/Apple account/Requesting apps
If you would like to install additional applications on the iPad, you will need to login with an Apple ID. Apple IDs are not created/provided by HCC. If you do not have an Apple ID, you will be given the option to create one when logging into the App Store.
HCC’s IT department will not reimburse any applications purchases with personal Apple IDs. If you would like the college to purchase additional applications, or do not wish to create a personal Apple ID to install applications, please contact the Technology Service Center to create a request.
Included Applications:
- Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook- Log in using your HCC Login ID and password. Logging into one Office application will sync your account with the rest of the of Office suite.

- GoToMyPC
- Microsoft Whiteboard
- Canvas Instructor and Canvas Student
- CalculatorX
- Google Drive- Convenient way to move files between devices.
Using Zoom for iPad
- Login using your HCC Zoom account.Â
- Share Content in upper right corner. Select ‘Screen’ or another open application.
- To stop sharing and return to Zoom, click the red recording icon in the upper right corner of the screen.
