IT Software Update Process -Adobe

Overview

Due to the critical role that Adobe CC plays in several Arts classes, Arts and SCS have a custom procedure for the update to minimize the risk to student and faculty class time.

Procedure

  1. Upon release of updates SCS will package and deploy the updated version to a a test machine by the Friday following the update release or 3rd business day, whichever is later
    1. SCS will validate
      1. The update installs
      2. The programs launch
      3. No duplicate shortcuts are caused by the update
        1. If the update spans two major versions (Ex: 2019 and 2020), arts will be contacted to determine the next step
  2. Arts will be contacted and asked to validate the software and let us know within a week ( 10 days from update release )
    1. If Arts is not heard back from by day 14 from the release of the update or they approve the update
      1. SCS will deploy the update out
      2. UNS will be notified to deploy the update to staff computers
      3. SCS will update the Mac labs within an additional week
    2. If Arts declines this update, the update information, reasoning, and approval will be documented in SCS's known vulnerabilities document and the IT Security Team will be informed of the update
