IT Software Update Process -Adobe
Overview
Due to the critical role that Adobe CC plays in several Arts classes, Arts and SCS have a custom procedure for the update to minimize the risk to student and faculty class time.
Procedure
- Upon release of updates SCS will package and deploy the updated version to a a test machine by the Friday following the update release or 3rd business day, whichever is later
- SCS will validate
- The update installs
- The programs launch
- No duplicate shortcuts are caused by the update
- If the update spans two major versions (Ex: 2019 and 2020), arts will be contacted to determine the next step
- SCS will validate
- Arts will be contacted and asked to validate the software and let us know within a week ( 10 days from update release )
- If Arts is not heard back from by day 14 from the release of the update or they approve the update
- SCS will deploy the update out
- UNS will be notified to deploy the update to staff computers
- SCS will update the Mac labs within an additional week
- If Arts declines this update, the update information, reasoning, and approval will be documented in SCS's known vulnerabilities document and the IT Security Team will be informed of the update
- If Arts is not heard back from by day 14 from the release of the update or they approve the update
