Installing Windows 10 VM


  1. Open https://azureforeducation.microsoft.com/devtools and click "Sign In"
    Sign in with your HCC email and password when it asks
    1. Click on "Software"
    2. Search for 'Windows 10 DVD"

    3. Click on the "Windows 10 (consumer editions), version #### -DVD" and click on "View Key"
      Record this key, you will need it later to activate Windows
    4. Click on Download

    5. Save the ISO

VMware Workstation

  1. Under the Home tab click on "Create a new Virtual Machine"


    1. Use the "Typical (Recommended)" option, click Next

    2. Select "Installer Disk Image"
      Click "Browse

        1. Browse to the Windows ISO downloaded from Kivuto and click "Open"

        2. It will detect the OS and ask about easy install
        3. Enter in the key and a username
      1. Enter in the name
      2. Use a 60 GB disk
      3. Click "Customize hardware"
        1. Select Memory, and set it to at least 2048 MB

        2. Click "Close"
      4. Click "Finish"
    3. Click "Edit virtual machine settings"
      1. Click "Add..."

      2. Select "Hard Disk"
        Click "Next"

      3. Leave as SCSI
        Click "Next"
      4. Create new virtual disk

      5. Leave at default of 60 GB
        Click "Next"
      6. Click "Finish"

      7. Again click "Add..."

      8. Select "Hard Disk"
        Click "Next"

      9. Leave as SCSI
        Click "Next"
      10. Create new virtual disk

      11. Leave at default of 60 GB
        Click "Next"
      12. Click "Finish"

      13. Click "OK"

    4. Click "Power on this Virtual Machine"

    5. It may pop up a message about removable devices, click "OK"

  1. When you see the below text, press a keyboard key to start the Windows 10 install

  2. Once it has loaded the desktop, you can shutdown
  3. Click the Windows icon for the start menu, then click on the power icon, then click "Shut down"
