Installing Windows 10 VM
- Open https://azureforeducation.microsoft.com/devtools and click "Sign In"
Sign in with your HCC email and password when it asks- Click on "Software"
- Search for 'Windows 10 DVD"
- Click on the "Windows 10 (consumer editions), version #### -DVD" and click on "View Key"
Record this key, you will need it later to activate Windows - Click on Download
- Save the ISO
- Click on "Software"
VMware Workstation
- Under the Home tab click on "Create a new Virtual Machine"
- Use the "Typical (Recommended)" option, click Next
- Select "Installer Disk Image"
Click "Browse- Browse to the Windows ISO downloaded from Kivuto and click "Open"
- It will detect the OS and ask about easy install
- Enter in the key and a username
- Enter in the name
- Use a 60 GB disk
- Click "Customize hardware"
- Select Memory, and set it to at least 2048 MB
- Click "Close"
- Select Memory, and set it to at least 2048 MB
- Click "Finish"
- Browse to the Windows ISO downloaded from Kivuto and click "Open"
- Click "Edit virtual machine settings"
- Click "Add..."
- Select "Hard Disk"
Click "Next" - Leave as SCSI
Click "Next" - Create new virtual disk
- Leave at default of 60 GB
Click "Next" - Click "Finish"
- Again click "Add..."
- Select "Hard Disk"
Click "Next" - Leave as SCSI
Click "Next" - Create new virtual disk
- Leave at default of 60 GB
Click "Next" - Click "Finish"
- Click "OK"
- Click "Add..."
- Click "Power on this Virtual Machine"
- It may pop up a message about removable devices, click "OK"
- Use the "Typical (Recommended)" option, click Next
- When you see the below text, press a keyboard key to start the Windows 10 install
- Once it has loaded the desktop, you can shutdown
- Click the Windows icon for the start menu, then click on the power icon, then click "Shut down"
